Introducing some of our favorite leveled reader books: 迪士尼学而乐我会自己读(dí shì ní xué ér lè wǒ huì zì jǐ dú) Disney Learning I Can Read Series. This set consists of the first 12 books in a leveled reader series that, in total, introduces 1100 frequent Chinese characters to your child through their favorite Disney friends.
Each level of books is created to build on the previous level's vocabulary, length of sentences and language complexity. The order characters compliments the Chinese language curriculum used in schools in mainland China.
Note: This set does not include any English or Pinyin, but the font is just small enough to be readable by the YouDao Dictionary Pen!
The 12 books in this Level 1& 2 set cover 100 frequently used Chinese Characters. Each book contains 2 Disney stories. Before reading each book, children are encouraged to review a page that lists all the Chinese characters that will be covered in that particular book.
The six Level 1 books cover 50 Chinese Characters.
The six Level 2 books covers 100 characters.
The 12 books in Levels 3 & 4 build on the first 100 characters introduced in this set to cover a total of 230 frequently-used Chinese Characters.
The 24 book in Levels 5-8 cover a total of 830 characters.
Transliterated names often do not fall into the book's frequent character list, they are printed in smaller font underneath a picture to encourage children to focus on the key characters in big font.
At the end of each book, there are three interactive activity pages to help children review the characters learned.
When your child knows just 100 characters, she will be able to read the following 12 books independently!
