Children of Bajau 巴夭人的孩子 (bā yāo rén de hái zǐ)
From one of China’s most celebrated children’s book authors, 彭懿, is this rare story about children from an aboriginal tribe told through stunning photographs.
Bajau people, “sea gypsies,” live in the waters of Southeast Asia, dwelling in boats and living off the sea. They don’t have clocks, calendars or even birthdays. Their internal organs and body capabilities have even evolved for life on the sea.
彭懿 and his crew travel far and wide to not only interview, but sometimes live with the groups they write about, in this case, capturing the purest moments of Bajau People’s daily life, joy and challenges.
“We are Bajau children. Granddad said, we are nomads drifting on the ocean. Mom and dad build our houses with redwood and palm trees on coral reefs. . .”
Please note: Because this is an authentic depiction of life with the Bajau people and nudity is common in their culture, this book does contain nudity.
