These books are BIG, beautiful, and bilingual!
Already loved by millions of kids in America, the Llama Llama series is increasingly becoming popular in China, and for good reason.
Each story, written in rhyming English verse and translated to rhyme in Chinese where possible, portrays little "Llama Llama's" big emotions as he faces the daily struggles of a preschooler.
It is a real challenge to translate rhyming English verse, but Llama Llama's Chinese version did not get lost in translation! Experienced translator 雪雁 preserved the playfulness and simplicity of the daily language, while making the Chinese text rhyme where possible.
In every story Llama Llama learns a little more about the world and how to manage his emotions. And the reader becomes more attached to the impossibly endearing character.
Even parents can take a lesson from this series by following the example of Mama Llama, a loving and patient parent who strikes the balance between gentle and firm that most of us human parents strive to maintain!
The only drawback about this set is that the English font is larger and more prominent than the Chinese font. For this reason, if your child already knows how to read English, it might be difficult for them to focus on the Chinese text unless you cover the English up. The text is plentiful, but, students capable of reading 1000 characters should be able with limited assistance.
