兔子坡(tù zǐ pō) Rabbit Hill by Robert Lawson, United States

Newbery Medal for excellence in American Children's Literature, 1945

"The story takes place in the countryside near Westport, Connecticut. The animal inhabitants are suffering as the house nearby has been abandoned for several years and the untended garden, the animals' source of food, has withered to nothing. "New Folks" then move into the house: Are they hunters, or friendly gardeners who will provide for the animals?

The book was written at the end of World War II when racial integration and providing aid to the war torn countries of Europe were on everyone's minds. When reading the story with those in mind, the moral intent becomes clear."- Wikipedia

青鸟 (qīng niǎo) The Blue Bird, By Maurice Maeterlinck, Belgium

Adapted from the 1908 play of the same name, the story is about a brother and sister helping a little girl whose illness can only be cured by the magical Blue Bird of Happiness. To find the bird, Mytyl and Tyltyl quest through the Land of Memory to the Palace of Night. The children get help from the good fairy Bérylune.

"The Dutch school types Mytyl schools and Tyltyl schools are named after Mytyl and Tyltyl: they are for children with a physical disability and for children with both a physical and mental disability, respectively. The Scouting Nederland section for children with special needs is named: "Blauwe Vogels" (Blue Birds)."-Wikipedia

捣蛋鬼日记 (dǎo dàn guǐ rì jì)Giornalino di Gian Burrasca/The Diary of a Gremlin, by Vamba, Italy

Published in 1912 in Italy, the book was a large success and was adapted in a number of books, films and TV shows. The story is set in Tuscany and Rome, and is in the form of the diary from Giannino Stoppani, 加尼诺 (jiā ní nuò). Giannino Stoppani is a kind-hearted, honest, but restless boy of nine years. Generations of children and adults alike have been captivated by Giannino Stoppani's pranks and the troubles he gets into.

草原上的小木屋 (cǎo yuán shàng de xiǎo mù wū)Little House on the Prairie by Laura Ingalls Wilder, United States

"Published in 1935, this is the third book in the Little House series, based on Wilder's childhood and adolescence in the American Midwest between 1870 and 1894.  The story tells about the months the Ingalls family spent on the prairie of Kansas, around the town of Independence, Kansas. The family meets difficulty and danger but perseveres. In the end the family is told that the land must be vacated by settlers as it is not legally open to settlement yet, and in 1870 Pa elects to leave the land and move before the Army forcibly requires him to abandon the land. The book was successfully adapted to a television series in the 1970s." -Wikipedia

狐狸列那的故事(hú lí liè nà de gù shì ), Le Roman de Renart/Story of Reynard the Fox by Gillo M. H, France

"This series of fables is largely concerned with the main character Reynard 列那(liè nà), a red fox and trickster. His adventures usually involve him deceiving other animals for his own advantage and trying to avoid their retaliatory efforts. His main enemy and victim across the cycle is his uncle, the wolf Isengrim 伊桑格兰(yī sāng gé lán). The figure of Reynard is thought to have originated in Lorraine folklore from where it spread to France, Germany and other countries. "-Wikipedia

Reynard's stories were retold and adapted throughout history since the 12th century. The stories' impact goes beyond children's literature to touch many aspects of European society including music, films and even religion and politics.
