In Malala's Magic Pencil (马拉拉的神奇画笔
mǎ lā lā dí shén qí huà bǐ ), we learn about how, as a young girl growing up in Pakistan, Malala started writing to tell the world about how poverty and violence in her country were keeping millions of children from receiving an education...and how the world responded.

In The Water Princess (水公主 shuǐ gōng zhǔ), we learn how international fashion model Georgie Badiel used to wake up before the sun to walk for miles to a well to fetch water for her family to use that day. At the end of the book, after the water has run out, ”Gie Gie" asks her mother why the water is so far and why it is not clear. Her mother responds that 'someday', her dear princess will find a way, and  'someday' her 'kingdom‘ will be filled with clear, cool, flowing water. (Georgie Badiel grew up to create the Georgie Badiel Foundation  which builds wells & brings clean water to communities in sub-saharan Africa)

In An Apple for Harriet Tubman (自由的苹果 zì yóu dí píng guǒ), we learn about how, as a slave child, Harriet wished she could taste just one of the apples she spent hours picking and polishing.  One day, she decided she would try an apple, but she was caught by the overseer and she paid a dear price. It was then that she promised herself that one day she will be free and she will be able to eat as many apples as she wants. As an adult, Harriet does eventually realize her dream of escaping to freedom, but she misses her family, so, she risks her life several more times on missions as part of the "underground railroad". She brings her family and dozens of other slaves to freedom and eventually, has her own home with her own yard, filled with apple trees and more apples than she can eat.
